DragonQuest - First Ideas

Happy new year, folks! Sorry it's been a couple of weeks since I last posted anything, busy times of course and I haven't had many opportunities to set up anything to photograph. I did take a bunch of pictures though of the model I painted for The Knights of Bal Timorea project knowing that I likely would not get a chance to in the future. Maybe I'll win the drawing and get him back but just in case I made sure to get my camera out for some quick photos. I have enough I think to put together a little story using these photos but I haven't had the time to work on that yet. Therefore I'm just posting these today for fun but I'll try to get back to working on this sometime soon. The original post in which I used some of the photos from this set can be seen here.

I had a lot of fun painting this Bretonnian knight and am thinking about getting another to paint and use for photography. It might look better too with an attempt at real heraldry rather than the joke heraldry I used on this guy. Then again there's so much else that I want to do I should probably focus my painting time on other things and just keep this in mind for a future project. There's certainly never a shortage of distractions to keep me busy.

  1. I know what you mean about the distractions. My life is sometimes really only a complex interlocking network of distractions.

The painting buddy looks great in sepia and really becomes part of the landscape. Those sepia pics seem to have a lot of potential - you can put all kinds of objects in for shape alone without having to worry about colour.

  2. I too really like the way the Sepia treatment works on these photos, it's neat being able to do that sort of thing with my pictures. (Remember, I am very new to this Photo Editing business... even just cropping pictures is still new and exciting!) That is a great way of thinking about the effect, that it removes the need to worry about color allowing one to focus on form alone. Cool! Thanks for helping me achieve a deeper understanding of this, Porky!

And here's to another year of wonderful distractions!
